Elvet Recruitment are assisting a 5* housebuilder in the region in their search for an Adoptions Engineer

The role supports the Engineering team by helping manage road and sewer adoption processes across the region. It involves working with Local Authorities, Highway Authorities, management companies and external consultants to make sure adoptions are completed correctly, on time and in a cost-effective way.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Prepare basic technical information for sewer adoptions (S104 and S106), finding practical solutions to site issues when they arise.
• Work with Local and Highway Authorities on road adoptions (S38 and S278) and make sure the company’s interests are protected.
• Ensure all road and sewer adoption agreements are processed accurately and within required timescales.
• Manage the handover of open spaces, play areas and similar assets to Management Companies in line with company procedures.
• Coordinate maintenance issues and remedial works that need to be completed before adoption or handover.
• Step in to support the Senior Adoptions Engineer when required.

Experience and Skills

• HNC/HND in an engineering-related subject, or working towards one.
• Experience in adoptions, highways, or drainage is preferred.
• Able to use AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel).
• Clear communicator who can work well with others.
• Organised, detail-focused and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Remuneration

A salary of up to £55,000 (dependant upon experience) + Car + Package

Elvet Recruitment has been appointed to recruit for a Site Engineer to join a regional housing developer who are targeting some impressive growth plans.

This role is suited to an experienced civil engineer with a background in ground works and/or roads and sewers.  

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting the site team in the monitoring of road and sewer installations, reviewing and recording measured and variation works in conjunction with the Technical and Commercial Departments.
• Setting out and surveying as required on each allocated site, including working alongside our groundwork’s teams checking and setting formation levels, while minimising excessive material waste (this will require the full use of total station etc. along with AutoCAD to produce the actual setting out information).
• Assisting the site team in conjunction with the Technical Department on all ground works for the sites, reviewing at site level any foundations/ plot drainage or external levels queries, with a view of further value engineering and problem solving where possible.
• Service installations by way of keeping an update on progress and any upcoming constraints and preparations to facilitate installations.
• Assist in site completion/close works including final surfacing to coincide with section agreements allowing for bond reductions. Provide information to ratify contractor claims.
• Provide regular updates on site progress to allow accurate reporting to the Technical Department.
• Assisting the Technical Department and site team by attending meetings as required with statutory undertakers (Building control, Warranty provider, Local Authority, etc.)
• Review of site material management practices to ensure they are being adhered to and provide information to amend, as necessary. Identifying material that can be re-used helping to keep the development in-line with budgets and avoid overspend.
• Recording of all work in progress through accurate as-built surveys of plots and estate under construction while also recording information regularly to update the Material Management Plan for the site(s) on an ongoing basis.
• Liaise with the Technical Director and Technical Manager on any design related issues or amendments required.

Qualifications and Experience

• The role requires an excellent technical knowledge base including setting-out skills and full use of a Leica TS16 total station with hands on experience and ability to value engineer projects as and when it is appropriate to do so.
• Knowledge of roads, sewers and substructures as well as current regulations.
• Previous experience of working with a House Builder or Contractor that works with developers (ideally in ground works).
• Must possess great communication skills and have confidence to challenge should it be in the company’s interest.
• Able to efficiently manage own diary and prioritise site visits accordingly.
• Hold a full UK driving license.

• Arranging SAP reports and managing SAP recording and BREL reports

• Liaising with trades for certification of works
• Assisting with clearing planning conditions and monitoring adherence

Skills and experience:

• A collaborative team member with strong communication skills, able to interact effectively with a wide variety of people.
• Industry knowledge is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in IT, with a solid understanding of Microsoft Office.
