Job Description

Elvet Recruitment are recruiting an Engineering/Technical Manager on behalf of a longstanding civil engineering contractor to work on various projects across the North East.

The role itself would suit a Senior Engineer from an Earthworks background, looking to take a step up into a management position, or somebody in a similar role looking to make a move to a new buisness.

Role Overview
This position offers an even split between office-based and site-based responsibilities, providing a dynamic mix of strategic planning and hands-on technical oversight. You will play a key role in supporting the Contracts Management team with ground modelling, volume calculations, and engineering analysis, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

Office-based responsibilities:

  • Oversee the coordination of engineering inputs across a range of projects
  • Analyse technical documents to assess potential challenges and opportunities
  • Produce ground models and carry out volume assessments
  • Contribute to the preparation of pricing strategies, tenders, and cost estimates
  • Plan and allocate engineering resources while assisting in the development of RAMS documentation

Site-based responsibilities:

  • Direct and oversee the technical aspects of earthworks activities on site
  • Foster effective collaboration with clients, subcontractors, and project teams
  • Uphold strict adherence to design specifications, quality benchmarks, and safety protocols
  • Track on-site progress, identifying issues early and providing clear, timely updates

Required experience:

  • Proven experience in civil engineering and earthworks
  • Strong technical analysis and ground modelling expertise
  • Excellent communication and team leadership skills
  • A proactive approach to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers
