Are you an experienced Finance Officer with a strong background in accounts payable, transactional finance and a passion for delivering excellent customer service?

Elvet Recruitment is recruiting for a Lead Finance Officer to join an established housing provider based in Northumberland East Coast, supporting its Finance Department with a particular focus on Accounts Payable.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to take on a varied role supporting the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable and Income functions, helping ensure an efficient and accurate service for both internal and external customers.

Working closely with the Transactional Finance Manager, you'll provide support and guidance to Finance Officers, maintain accurate financial records and contribute to the ongoing improvement of financial systems, reporting and processes.

The successful candidate will have significant experience within transactional finance, particularly accounts payable, alongside strong organisational skills and the confidence to support colleagues and manage competing priorities.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Supporting the Transactional Finance Manager with the operational management of Accounts Payable and Income functions.

• Helping deliver an efficient and professional service to internal and external customers.

• Ensuring financial reconciliations and reports are completed accurately and within required timescales.

• Maintaining accurate ledger entries and completing regular financial housekeeping activities.

• Providing support, guidance and advice to Finance Officers within the team.

• Ensuring customer and financial information is accurate, complete and appropriately maintained.

• Supporting the continuous improvement of financial systems, processes and reporting.

• Assisting the Transactional Finance Manager with implementing changes and improving operational procedures.

• Contributing to an excellent customer experience through timely and professional service delivery.

What We’re Looking For

• AAT qualification or equivalent, and/or relevant experience within a finance role.

• Significant experience in transactional finance, particularly Accounts Payable.

• Good understanding of financial management systems, processes and procedures.

• Experience maintaining accurate financial records and completing reconciliations.

• Excellent organisational and administrative skills.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial information.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.

• A proactive and self-motivated approach with the ability to manage competing priorities.

• Confidence supporting colleagues and contributing to improvements across a finance function.

• Previous experience within a similarly sized organisation or housing provider would be advantageous, but is not essential.

• Salary: £32,909 per annum

• Hours: 37 hours per week
