Elvet Recruitment have been appointed to recruit a Transport Manager for the regional division of a £75m waste company in Sheffield.

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Plan efficient and cost-effective vehicle scheduling and routing of collections to maximise vehicle utilisation and operational efficiency.
- Plan and manage daily, weekly and monthly transport activities across allocated areas, ensuring resources are deployed effectively.
- Hold the position of CPC Holder on the Regional Operator's Licence, supported by the Depot Manager and Fleet Engineer, ensuring full compliance with transport legislation.
- Manage driver and operative resources, maintaining appropriate staffing levels to deliver service requirements and minimise disruption.
- Communicate expectations, responsibilities and operational requirements clearly to drivers and operatives.
- Monitor driver attendance, holidays, working hours, wages and overtime to ensure compliance, efficiency and service continuity.
- Verify drivers' hours against tracking systems and maintain accurate records within relevant management systems.
- Ensure all drivers complete the required daily documentation, including driving hours, duties and vehicle records.
- Work collaboratively with Regional Administration to ensure transport administration is completed accurately and efficiently.
- Create, manage and maintain all transport-related documentation, including work tickets, consignment notes and collection records across relevant systems.
- Ensure full compliance with tachograph regulations, operator licence requirements, vehicle inspections and all transport legislation.
- Coordinate vehicle servicing, MOTs, tank testing, tachograph calibrations and other statutory inspections to maximise fleet availability.
- Monitor vehicle performance, utilisation, VOR reporting and fleet efficiency, working with management to optimise vehicle deployment.
- Work closely with the Fleet Manager, Depot Manager and other depots to ensure transport operations are delivered in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Calculate collection costs, prepare quotations and monitor fuel usage and operating costs to support commercial performance.
- Provide a high standard of customer service to both internal and external customers, responding flexibly to changing operational requirements.
- Support emergency response requirements, including participation in call-out rotas and the rescheduling of work at short notice when required.
- Ensure all driver training, CPC requirements, certifications and competency records remain current, maintaining an accurate skills matrix and supporting ongoing development.
- Maintain comprehensive vehicle history and compliance records, including MOT certificates, inspection reports, servicing documentation, defect reports, registration documents and all other statutory records.
What We’re Looking For:
- Follow and implement all company Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Attend customer sites periodically to assess driver compliance with Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS) and other safety management systems.
- Deliver Toolbox Talks and facilitate regular driver meetings to promote safety, compliance and operational awareness.
- Ensure monthly Health & Safety reports are completed accurately and submitted within required timescales.
- Investigate all incidents, accidents and near misses, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are identified and implemented.
- Understand and fulfil personal responsibilities under the company's Health, Safety and Environmental policies.
- Ensure compliance with ADR regulations and all applicable Dangerous Goods legislation.
- Hold a valid CPC qualification or demonstrate a willingness to obtain the qualification.
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
Role Information:
- Up to £38,000 DOE
- 33 days holiday inclusive of public bank holidays.
