Job Description

Elvet Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Building Services Manager (MEP) to join a tier 1 contractor in the North East. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of technical compliance, coordination, and commissioning across major construction projects.

The Role

You will oversee the delivery of mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) services across multiple projects, ensuring installations are fully coordinated, technically compliant, and delivered to programme. The role covers the full lifecycle from pre‑construction through installation, testing, commissioning and client handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support project teams in managing utilities, MEP installations and statutory compliance

  • Lead technical reviews, commissioning meetings and progress reporting

  • Review design information, subcontract returns and technical submissions

  • Carry out site inspections and quality checks at key stages

  • Oversee testing, commissioning and client training ahead of practical completion

  • Assist with tender reviews, consultant meetings and supply chain engagement

  • Ensure safe temporary and permanent electrical/water systems on site

  • Contribute to supply chain development within the region

Skills & Experience

  • Background in building services (mechanical, electrical or multi‑discipline)

  • HNC/HND/Degree in Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)

  • Strong technical coordination and design review capability

  • Confident communicator with the ability to work across project and client teams

  • Knowledge of BREEAM, Part L and industry standards

  • Proactive, organised and able to work to deadlines
