Job Description
Elvet Recruitment is working with a long-established construction company to hire a Quality Assurance Document Controller for their office in the County Durham area.
Established for over 30 years, this firm has grown significantly and now boasts an annual turnover exceeding £18 million—making this an excellent time to join a thriving business. Specialising in civil engineering, drainage, and concrete structures, the company is led by original founding members who remain actively involved in operations. With a strong focus on long-term employment, skills development, and apprenticeships, they are committed to meeting industry demands, supporting sustainability goals, and consistently exceeding client expectations across an expanding geographical area.
As the Quality Assurance Document Controller, you'll play a key role in supporting the management team at head office and across project sites. You will be responsible for delivering robust document and quality management administration, ensuring consistent control and traceability across all documentation. While primarily based at the head office, occasional site visits may be required depending on specific client contract requirements or training needs.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Internal Document Control: Set up and manage internal document filing structures for each project using the company’s Docpool server, at both tender and construction stages.
- External Document Control: Manage external document control via client online portal systems—downloading, uploading, and organising project documents. Common platforms include Trimble Viewpoint, Procore, BIM 360, and AutoDesk Build Portal.
- Records: Maintain detailed document registers for all design disciplines, such as Architects, Structural & Civil Engineers, MEP Engineers, and Contractors.
- Printing: Print documents for both office records and site use, including design drawings, specifications, schedules, and technical information.
- Quality Assurance: Manage QA documentation by setting up standard forms and templates, logging material information and test data (e.g. concrete cube test results), and issuing certificates to clients.
- Operation & Maintenance Manual: Collate and compile O&M manual information for client handover, including drawings, technical data, maintenance requirements, and material data sheets.
- General Data Capture: Gather and organise key data related to sustainability, net zero carbon, and social value initiatives.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong understanding of document control and quality management processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Well-organised, proactive, and detail-oriented
- Able to manage multiple tasks under pressure and meet deadlines
- Comfortable working independently and within a team
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience using document control platforms such as Trimble Viewpoint, Procore, BIM 360, or AutoDesk Build Portal (or similar)
Role Details:
- Hours: Monday to Friday
- 08:00 – 17:00 (Mon–Thurs)
- 08:00 – 16:30 (Fri)
- Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 DOE
- Type: Permanent
