Elvet Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a leading Fire & Security specialist to recruit a Fire & Security Engineer covering the North East and South Yorkshire regions. Due to continued growth and the successful award of a significant new contract, our client is expanding their engineering team and seeking a motivated professional to support their service and maintenance division.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business with an outstanding reputation for delivering high-quality Fire, Security, CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Alarm, and Life Safety solutions across a wide range of commercial and residential environments.
The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, fault finding, reactive repairs, and emergency call-outs across a varied portfolio of sites, including Extra Care and Retirement Living developments. Experience within these environments would be advantageous, although not essential.
This role would suit an engineer who takes pride in delivering excellent customer service, enjoys working independently, and is looking to join a supportive organisation that genuinely values its employees.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on Fire & Security systems across multiple sites
- Diagnosing faults and completing reactive repair works to minimise system downtime and ensure compliance
- Attending emergency call-outs as part of the on-call rota and providing effective fault resolution
- Servicing and maintaining Fire Alarm, CCTV, Intruder Alarm, Access Control, Door Entry, and associated life safety systems
- Accurately completing service reports, maintenance records, worksheets, and associated documentation using electronic systems
- Updating site logbooks and ensuring all work carried out is fully documented and compliant
- Identifying remedial works and communicating recommendations to management and clients where required
- Maintaining company-issued tools, equipment, vehicle, and stock in good working order
- Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with current Health & Safety regulations, industry standards, and company procedures
- Building and maintaining positive working relationships with clients and site representatives
- Providing technical support to colleagues when required and assisting with problem-solving across the wider engineering team
- Representing the company professionally at all times and delivering a high standard of customer service
- Participating in manufacturer and industry training to continually develop technical knowledge and skills
What We're Looking For:
- Minimum of 2 years' post-education experience within the Fire & Security industry
- Strong background in servicing, maintenance, fault finding, and repair of Fire & Security systems
- Experience working with Fire Alarms, CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Alarms, or related systems
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills with the ability to work methodically and independently
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to manage workload effectively and prioritise tasks across multiple sites
- Professional, reliable, and self-motivated approach to work
- Full UK Driving Licence with no more than 6 penalty points
- Willingness to travel across the North East and South Yorkshire regions
- Experience working within Extra Care, Supported Living, or Retirement Living environments would be advantageous but is not essential
- Relevant industry qualifications and manufacturer training would be beneficial
Role Information:
- Up to £40,000 DOE
- Full-time permanent position
- 40 hours per week (08:00 - 17:00)
- 1-in-4 on-call rota with additional call-out payments
